Agencies and getting an agent

The most recommended way to become an actor is finding an agent. I know a LOT of people don't want to get agents, and want to do it on their own, but getting an agent actually increases your chances by a lot. Why? Because agents are there to find information about auditions and find roles that you can play(according to your weight, height, skin color, hair color, age, etc.) and show them to you, so that you can choose if your either going to audition for that or not. Of course you can go to an audition without having an agent, but you are going to have more options and it's going to be a lot easier if you are with an agency. That's why an agent is going to be a big help in your acting career.

If you want to get an agent, you should find a agency first. Look for agencies close to you, choose the one you like the best and call them, asking if they are taking new talent. If they are, tell them you want to audition. If they aren't, move on. I'm going to make a post all about how to find agencies later.

Once you have your audition date and time, you should get prepared. Make sure to ask what they want you to bring to the audition. Make sure to take your resumé and your headshot(your resumé should be attached in the back of your headshot, actually) and anything else they might want you to bring.

Always have a monologue you like memorized.

In the day of your audition, make sure you know the place well, so you don't get lost. Also, get there a little bit earlier(if your audition is at 4, get there at 3:55). Don't get there too early, and in case you do, take a walk around the place, and wait a little before getting inside. They are going to give you a form to fill. Wait untill they call your name.

Just be yourself, show your personality and look confident. Also, no matter what's happening to you, always look like you are in a good mood. It doesn't matter if your dog just dies, or if your dad lost his job, or if you're grounded 'till eternity, if your not in a good mood, the directors are not going to like you. So when you are in your audition, forget the rest of the world.

The director is either going to call you or send you an e-mail, so be patient, and if you don't make it, there are other agencies. ;)

PS. There is no registration fee. It should be totally free!
